Welcome to FlyABY.com!
Southwest Georgia Regional Airport (ABY) is a non-hub commercial service airport with approximately 30,000 annual operations and 39 based aircraft. The airport hosts one scheduled airline - Delta Connection Carrier ExpressJet. ExpressJet operates three daily flights to Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport with 50-seat regional jets. United Parcel Service (UPS) also has a large presence on the airfield. There is an air cargo sort facility at ABY that services Southwest Georgia, Southeastern Alabama and the Florida panhandle. UPS serves Albany with Airbus A300-600 equipment.
ABY serves a market area that includes the five-county Albany MSA which in 2000's U.S. Census had a population of 157,833. Albany is known as the Quail Hunting Capital of the World, so private jets from all over come to Southwest Georgia from November to February to take in the excellent hunting. That hunting traffic contributes much to the local economy.
The Airport also hosts thousands of military operations from all over the country throughout the year to keep our military pilots in a state of readiness.
Southwest Georgia Regional Airport is owned by the City of Albany. The Albany-Dougherty County Aviation Commission is charged with the day-to-day operations of the Airport through its designee, the Airport Director.
